Status
Morley's Final Catalogue: Locally abundant on broom in gravelly places. Copdock and Bentley (Hkg), common at light in Ipswich (Mly), Playford, Needham, Stowmarket. Bury, Icklingham, Brandon. Worlingham (Crf). Blythburgh (Gd); Reydon in 1935 (Baker).

Recent Suffolk Status: Common in the Sandlings and Breck with scattered records elsewhere.

Life history: Single-brooded. Easily disturbed from the foodplant during the day as well as coming to light. Larvae have been found on the foodplant quite regularly in the county in late spring/early summer.

Identification: Broom-tip does not have the pale streak mark which gives this species its name.

Habitat: Heathland, scrub, wood edges, gardens.

First Recorded in 1935.
